Richelle Gao '27 has been awarded a $10,000 Picker Interdisciplinary Science Institute Scholar award for her summer research project, "Biomarker-Driven Diagnostic Modeling to Complement Urine Cytology in Urothelial Carcinoma" under the mentorship of Dr. Bineyam Taye (internal faculty sponsor) and Dr. Jia Yu Rao (external faculty sponsor at UCLA).

The project includes analysis of a DNA for historical population analyses of clams across spatial and temporal environmental gradients across the Gulf of Mexico.

The ultimate goal is to provide evidence for the application of naturalistic developmental interventions to educational practices and to characterize and better support emotional engagement and social development in this under served population.

Bridge the gap between rational economic theory and psychological reality to generate insights that promote healthier, more efficient work environments.

The results of this project will form the basis of improving molecular design of bimetallic catalysts for low-cost, efficient artificial photosynthesis.

This project will foster interdisciplinary work that is needed in drug discovery research.
