I am a literary historian specializing in pre-modern Chinese literature, with a particular focus on poetry and literary anthologies of early medieval China. My research interests include classical Chinese poetry, literary and cultural history, East Asian book history, and digital humanities.
My current book project is titled "The Formation of Literary Networks and the Remediation of Early Medieval Anthologies in China, 500C1700." This book investigates the birth and afterlife of the two of the most foundational literary anthologies in the Chinese literary tradition: the Wen xuan x (Selections of Refined Literature) and the Yutai xinyong _ԁ (New Songs from a Jade Terrace). I reinterpret the formation and transformation of literary networks through the lens of anthology production, dissemination, and reception in China and Japan from the early medieval to early modern eras.
